Linda Gray-K-3 Reading Bill

Linda Gray co-sponsored the K-3 Reading bill with the following key provisions:

-Requirement adoption of scientifically-based reading instruction
-Requirement for inclusion of the essential components of reading instruction in all classes
-Requirement for the alignment of reading instruction with the recommendations of the National Reading Panel (NRP) and the No Child Left Behind Act, including phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, reading fluency, and reading comprehension
-Requirement for the use of intensive reading instruction with students who do not meet or exceed Arizona reading standards by Grade 3
-Additional funding of $1 million for reading instruction and training
